The November 'season'

If there is December, there is November too.

So festival organisers and ideas-people who are keen to stage their own shows but keep away from the crowded December calendar, today host festivals in November.

Carnatica's annual Bharat Sangeet Utsav brands its fest this way. This year, the fest opens on Nov.3 with a concert by Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. Top artistes - T M Krishna, Sanjay Subrahmanyam and Sowmya, besides others will perform. Sikkil Gurucharan performs alongside flutist Rakesh Chaurasia.

At Narada Gana Sabha hall, Alwarpet. A section of the seats at the rear of the hall are free and open to all, first come first serve. Front row seats are ticketed.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore also starts its music festival in mid-November and it features some top end artistes too. Concerts are free.
